Advising and Academic Support 

  • The last day to add a Spring 2019 course is Tuesday, January 15. Students wanting to change their schedule should consult their academic advisor before making changes. 

Job Openings 

  • A local student housing apartment complex is looking for a handful of community assistants.  These students will be responsible for marketing efforts, hosting events, working with vendors and more.  For more information, click here
  • The USDA has a number of summer internships available nationwide.  Positions include areas such as veterinary science, natural resources and biological sciences, engineering and architecture, business and general administration.   • Syngenta is seeking a federal government relations intern in Washington D.C. Responsibilities include legislative research, preparing presentations, drafting newsletters and more.  For more information, click here
  • A Ph.D. student in the Plant and Soil Sciences department is seeking an on-campus research assistant. Duties include media creation, lab management, counting seed/pods and more. Experiential Opportunities 

  • Students planning to study abroad this summer should submit their program application soon.  The EA scholarship application deadline for summer programs is February 1, and applicants must have an active program application. For more information, visit the UK Education Abroad website or stop by the EA Advising Center in 315 Bradley Hall. 
  • Josephine Sculpture Park in Frankfort is seeking an environmental and arts education intern to facilitate quality community programming for eight to ten hours per week from late May/early June through August. Main responsibilities will include developing, promoting and facilitating events, workshops, classes and camps. If interested, interns may design and implement your own program. Interested students may learn more by signing in to Handshake with their linkblue ID. 

Events

  • UK Housing is hosting a free ice skating event on Thursday, January 10 and Friday, January 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 adjacent to Chellgren Hall (on Woodland Avenue). The event will include food, t-shirts and more. All students are welcome to attend. 
  • The UK Student Center Cinema has scheduled a new line-up of free Spring 2019 movies.  This week's screenings include The Breakfast Club, The Princess Bride and more.  For more information, click here
