Academic Support and Advising 

  • Advising for the winter and spring terms will begin soon.  Students should be on the lookout for information about scheduling their advising appointment. The course catalog will be available in myUK on or before October 9.  Students may use myUK GPS to build long-range course plans.  Advisor information can be accessed from the homepage in myUK GPS. Students without an assigned advisor can contact the Center for Student Success at 859-257-3468. 

Club Meeting

  • The UK Horticulture Club will host a work day with tropicals on Wednesday, October 4 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Greenhouse 12. Students will participate in native plant and apple sales. For more information, contact Grace Ragain. 

Job Opening

  • The UK Poultry Research Farm is seeking students to work Monday throught Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and everyother weekend. Hours are flexible with classes, and students can work up to 20 hours a week during the semester and 40 hours a week during winter and summer breaks. Responsibilities include feeding and weighing chickens, cleaning of rooms and general upkeep of the facility.  For more information, contact Mike Ford, 859-259-1701

Experiential Opportunities 

  • The Dietetics and Human Nutrition department is leading a summer 2018 study abroad program in Italy. Undergraduates and graduates are encouraged to apply. Information sessions will be held in 128 Erikson Hall on Monday, October 2 from 11:00 to 11:50 a.m. and on Thursday, October 5 from 2:00 to 2:50 p.m. For more information on the program, click here.
  • In collaboration with the College of Nursing, Dr. Amy Kostelic is directing a spring on-campus course with an international travel component to Costa Rica.  Students will study the unique health and well-being of Costa Ricans, participate in service learning projects and more.  Those interested should attend the info session on Thursday, October 5 at 5:30 p.m. in 128 Erikson Hall.   • Paws 4 the Cause is seeking an Adoption Coordinator to assist in the adoption process and screening applicants for animal adoptionsResponsibilities include reviewing applications, home visits and animal transport. For more information, and to apply, click here

Event Promotion

  • UK Roundup is happening this week! Prior to the UK vs. Mizzou football game, all students are invited to attend the big Saturday (10/7) celebration at 3:30 p.m. adjacent to the E.S. Good Barn. The event will include food, a pep rally and live music by Grayson Jenkins and the Resolutions. Students entry is free, but registration is required. Families are welcome to attend too.   • UK Build a Better Burger Contest is Thursday, October 5 at 3:00 p.m. adjacent to the E.S. Good Barn. All students are welcome to participate. Teams can consist of three individuals. To sign up, click here
  • UK Water Week is next week, Sunday, October 7 through Friday, October 13. All events are free and will provide food. Click here to see upcoming activities and celebrations. 
  • The University Health Service is offering flu shots to University of Kentucky students, faculty and staff.  Five flu clinics are scheduled throughout the month of October.  For more information, click here.
