  • The Jockey Club Information Systems, Inc. integrates state-of-the-art technology into Thoroughbred business operations.  Its data management department is seeking a part time quality control coordinator.  Work includes data entry, proofreading, and research of foreign pedigrees and race results.  Necessary skills would include an ability to work independently, attention to detail, good organization and communication skills, willingness to work in a team environment, and the ability to move easily between tasks.  Experience in the Thoroughbred industry is a plus.  This is a part-time position working approximately 30 hours per week between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday – Friday.  This is a temporary position with hours available until November. Experiential Opportunities

  • The CI CoLab is looking for an intern for the Usability and Eye-Tracking divisions. This internship is meant to give the candidate a foundation in usability testing and UX design fundamentals. This internship will also allow the candidate to get familiar with eye-tracking technologies (i.e. Pupil Capture) and Virtual Reality.   • The Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship (VACE) is pre-screening project ideas for the Fall 2017 Entrepreneurs Bootcamp. The Venture Studio Bootcamp is a free one semester program in which participants experience full entrepreneurial immersion. Those enrolled will participate in teams and live the life of an entrepreneur by conceiving, developing and pitching an idea from start to finish. Applications should be submitted by July 31, 2017.   • The Kentucky Horse Park needs volunteers for two upcoming events, Breyerfest (July 14-16) and Hats Off Day (July 29).  In exchange for working a four hour shift, volunteers may enjoy free admission to the events. Shifts include shuttle driving, taking tickets, passing out hats, kids activities and more. Those interested should contact Annie Martin

Course Promotion

  • ENT 110: Insect Biology is offered every fall and spring semester, including Fall 2017.  The class meets from 9:30 to 10:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Erikson Hall.  ENT 110 fulfills the core requirement for natural sciences.  The class covers a wide range of topics including insect identification, insect pests, beneficial insects, pests of concern to Kentucky, diseases transmitted by insects, their importance as pollinators, and much more.
