Advising and Academic Support

  • The last day to add a class is Tuesday, August 29.  Students wishing to rearrange their schedule, or those with waitlist concerns, should consult their academic advisor. 

Club Meetings

  • The Food Science Club invites all students to its first semetser meeting on Monday, August 28 at 3:00 p..m. in the 2nd floor conference room of the Garrigus Building.  Students can enjoy free food and learn more about getting involved with the club.
  • All students are invited to the Research in Equine and Agricultural Disciplines (READ) club meeting on Tuesday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m. in room N10 of the Agricultural Science Building. For more information, visit the READ Facebook page
  • All students are invited to the UK MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences) general meeting on Wednesday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. in room 110 of White Hall.  As one of the most engaged groups in the college, UK MANRRS is eager to welcome any and all students who contribute to campus diversity.  For more information about the club, click here
  • The Dressage and Event Team is hosting an interest meeting for all students on Wednesday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m. in room 203 of The 90.  The Intercollegiate Eventing League is the association for college-aged event riders. Competitions require a personal horse or a leased/borrowed horse, and are located along the east coast. Questions can be directed to Lexie Samuels.
  • UK Block and Bridle, UK's animal science club, is hosting an open meeting on Thursday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. in room B-52 of the Garrigus Building. All students are welcome to attend.  
  • The UK Dairy Club is hosting an ice cream social on Wednesday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Alumni Plaza next to the Garrigus Building.  All students, regardless of past experience, are invited to attend. Questions can be directed to Lilly Robertson.
  • The UK Saddle Seat Team invites undergraduate students to its meeting on Monday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Windswept Farm (1529 Keene-Troy RD).  The meeting location is off campus, but transportation can be arranged.  All students interested in this type of riding are encouraged to attend.  For more information, contact Mary Virginia Gibbs

Job Opportunities 

  • The UK Martin Luther King Jr. Center is seeking a student programming intern.  For more information, and to apply, click here.
  • Dudley's Restaurant, voted "Best in KY" in 2017 by Southern Living Magazine, is seeking server assistants and hosts.  With plenty of shifts, as well as horse sales and races around the corner, there is great earning potential.  Apply in person at 259 West Short Street.

Experiential Opportunities 

  • The University of Kentucky Student Government Association is now accepting applications for its Leadership Development Program (LDP), an initiative dedicated to building future leaders on campus from the freshman class. Events

  • The Graduate School is hosting a Crank N' Boom ice cream social on Wednesday, August 30 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in front of the Gillis Building.  Attendees may connect with the Lexington Public Library and get free access to lynda.com, an online learning platform. 
  • All students, faculty and staff are invited to the "Gathering at the Table Dinner" on Tuesday, September 12th at 5:30 p.m. at the Food Connection in The 90.  The dinner will include hands-on cooking, conversation about food systems, and a locally-sourced meal  Attendees will learn how to cook well on a limited budget.  The dinners are ‘pay what you can’ with a suggestion of $5.  Space is limited.   • The University of Kentucky's SSTOP Hunger organization is hosting a screening of the award-winning Sundance documentary LOOK & SEE, a powerful cinematic portrait of Wendell Berry— farmer, activist, and undoubtedly one of America’s most significant living writers.  The film will be screened on September 13, 2017 at 6:30 PM in Kincaid Auditorium (111 Gatton) followed by a panel discussion with Mary Berry.  Tickets are FREE for students, but must be reserved and printed. MISC.

  • Kentucky Wildcab, a free on-demand ride option for students, has begun its fall semester service.  The cab runs from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and serves the surrounding campus area.  The program uses four- and six-passenger vehicles operated by student employee.  For more information, click here
  • Thanks to a new partnership between UK and Zipcar, students, faculty and staff may now enroll in a new car sharing program. UK members can join for $15, with rates starting as low as $7.50 per hour and $69 per day. Gas, maintenance, insurance, and up to 180 miles of driving per day are included in rates.  For more information, click here
