- The Study will be hosting a Common Hour Review session on Tuesday, February 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for students enrolled in MA 123. The Study provides a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for students to drop in, as they wish, to seek help on homework or exam prep, or simply to study within a group environment. Career Development
- On Tuesday, February 8 from 9:00 to 10:15 am the Job Club will be presenting tips and tricks to help ace an interview. From the application process all the way through the last interview, this session will help interviewees gain the knowledge and confidence to get the job. This event may be joined online or in-person at the Fayette County Cooperative Extension Office (1140 Harry Sykes Way). All those interested, including the general public, are welcome to attend. Scholarship and Funding Opportunities
- The University of Kentucky Libraries is accepting applications for the Dean's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Scholarship now through Monday, April 4. This scholarship offers two $1,000 awards to undergraduates from any major who have made substantive use of the libraries' collections, services, and resources in their research projects. - All students are invited to join a local florist on Monday, February 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Gatton Student Center Ballroom A to fellowship with a flower workshop to craft a beautiful bouquet for Valentines' Day. Click here to register for this event.
- Join registered dietitian Jessica Carter, in partnership with the Food Connection at The 90 on Tuesday, February 8 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm for a Beginner Cooking Class. This class will teach students how to cook an exciting meal while using local produce, on a budget. Click here to sign up for this event.
- The Agribusiness Club will be hosting Peterson Farms and AppHarvest on Thursday, February 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in N12 Ag North. Please bring a canned or non-perishable food donation for God's Pantry. Raising Canes will also be served for attendees. For more information click here.
- On Thursday, February 10 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Alternative Service Breaks will hold a class in Patterson Hall which prepares students to lead service trips. Students will learn leadership skills such as facilitating group conversations, coordinating week-long service trips with community partners, and educating others about social issues. - The Department of Animal and Food Sciences has an opening for a Lab Tech Sr. Duties include but are not limited to analysis of biological samples using analytical techniques in molecular biology and chemistry, data calculation and reduction, organization, etc. Applications are ongoing until Sunday, February 20. - The Department of Horticulture is seeking Student Vegetable Research Assistant. The student will participate in commercial vegetable research this spring and summer. There will be many opportunities to learn new and useful skills while assisting with managing vegetable plots that provide necessary information to Kentucky vegetable growers. - The Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology program is looking for a student to assist with the publication of the program’s weekly newsletter and other tasks as needed. Students will work remotely with occasional in-person meetings with supervisors. Click here to apply.
- The Jockey Club’s summer internship program applications are due on Friday, February 11. The Jockey Club is the breed registry for North American Thoroughbreds, and this internship is targeted toward individuals with an interest in pursuing a career in the equine industry.
