Event Promotion
- Interested students are invited to meet Sigma Alpha Professional Sorority members for their annual recruitment happening September 6 to September 8 in Ag North's Seay Lobby from 5:00 to 8:00 PN. Sigma Alpha is a group of women with shared interests in agriculture and founded on four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. - All those interested are invited to join the CAFE Office of Diversity's Cultivating Inclusion Series: Acknowledging Commonalities and Embracing Differences without Othering with Carol Taylor-Shim. The event will be held Thursday, September 15 from 11:00 to 12:30 in room N24B of Ag North and via Zoom. Attendees will increase their capacity to understand discrimination and its intersection with policy, explain what "othering" is and how it shows up inside and outside instructional spaces, and gain strategies to embrace differences while acknowledging commonalities.
- Save the date for the 2022 UK Equine Week of Service happening October 2 to October 8. All those interested are invited to serve local equine non-profits. Registration will be posted on September 7, and the first 75 volunteers will receive a free event t-shirt.
Job Opening
- The Agroecosystem Nutrient Cycling Lab in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences is hiring part-time undergraduate research assistants for fall 2022. The students will assist with research testing the effects of management practices on root growth, cover crop growth, and soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics. Responsibilities include plot layout, soil and plant sampling, sample processing and analysis, maintenance of soil incubation studies, image analysis, data entry. Competitive hourly pay.
