Call for CAFE Ambassadors
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (CAFE) is seeking student ambassadors for the 2023-24 academic year.
The CAFE ambassadors are a select group of undergraduate leaders who model and tell the story of our college, its mission and programs, as well as the University of Kentucky. There are approximately 20 ambassadors selected per academic year. Ambassadors are expected to serve one full year and must reapply should they wish to continue for subsequent years.
Beyond rich leadership, professional development and networking opportunities, ambassadors receive course credit through a repeatable, graded, one-credit hour course (GEN 300) for each term of service.
EXPECTATIONS
- Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA, enrollment in a CAFE academic major, and completed at least 15 credit hours at UK.
- Selected ambassadors will be enrolled and will be expected to attend all sessions of GEN 300 (1) – selected Wednesdays 5:00-5:50pm each term.
- Willingness to address future (high school) students and related audiences on the importance of attending college, student life, and college and university.
- Relay information that is accurate, useful, and interesting across multiple arrays in-person, on or off campus, as well as virtually.
- Support signature college events including Roundup, College Welcome, National FFA Convention and National Ag Week.
- Represent the college before key stakeholder groups including alumni, community, and civic groups.
- Attend regular training seminar(s) offered through the program – including fall and spring training.
