The Joseph P. Kennedy Scholarship awards four $2500 scholarships to four full-time UK students during the academic year ($1250 each semester).

This scholarship is awarded to UK students who have demonstrated outstanding community leadership and philanthropic service as well as an excellent record of academic achievement. 

To be eligible, students must:

  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills and have significantly contributed to either the university or the local community.
  • Must be full-time students at the University of Kentucky during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.3.
  • Be available for an in-person interview on Sunday, February 20, 2022 between 12:00 and 6:00 p.m.

Application Requirements Include:

  • A 500 word or less essay discussing; philanthropy is the generosity of money and time in order to promote the welfare of others. Why is philanthropy important to you?
  • Unofficial copy (PDF) of all undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts. Freshmen who are applying can submit transcripts from high school or from the first semester at UK.
  • A resume (PDF or Word) including your collegiate work experience, community service, scholarships/honors/awards, and other pertinent information.

Scholarship recipients will be asked to attend the University Honors & Awards Ceremony in the spring semester and attend a luncheon in the fall semester to meet and thank our scholarship donors.
