Fundraising

  • The Ag Student Council is holding their annual clothing drive throughout the month of March every Wednesday from 9:00 to 3:00. There will be designated drop of boxes across Ag Campus where students can drop off unwanted clothes or make a monetary donation to support the Hope Center in Lexington, KY.
  • The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment DanceBlue Team is hosting a fundraiser where participants can raise money by “flocking” someone’s yard with flamingoes for a fee of $20. If you have already been flocked and want to flock someone else, the fee is $15. All proceeds will go towards the Golden Matrix Fund to support kids of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Click here for more information.

Awards & Scholarships

  • The UK Office of Student Organizations and Activities is seeking nominations for the VanMeter Service Award, an award for outstanding volunteer service. If you know a student whose efforts should be recognized, nominate them via this form
  • Stantec will award $1,000 to $10,000 scholarships to underrepresented students (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, first-generation, veterans, etc.) who are pursuing a STEAM major (i.e., science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). The deadline to apply is March 15. Applicants must create an account and complete the online application located here

Experiential Opportunities

  • The UK Student Sustainability Council is looking for students who are passionate about sustainability to become a member of their team. At-large and organizational representative positions are available. The deadline to apply is March 15. Job & Internship Opportunities

  • A temporary position is available in the Feed, Fertilizer, Hemp, and Soils laboratories in the Division of Regulatory Services. Job duties would include working in the receiving area of the labs to prepare samples for chemical analysis. The deadline to apply is Thursday, March 11. Click here to apply.
  • The Office of Sustainability is offering several paid undergraduate internships to mentor and assist sustainability units on the University of Kentucky campus.   • Peterson Farms in Loretto, KY is seeking a crop scout intern to assist their chief agronomist and agronomy team with scouting and agronomic management throughout the summer. Ideal candidates will be a junior/senior or a recent graduate in Ag Ecosystem Sciences, Plant and Soil Sciences, or related majors.   • All students are invited to EMPOWER Professional Development Day on Saturday, March 13 from 1:00 to 5:00 hosted online via Zoom. At this event students can learn essential career skills including salary negotiation, professional dress, resume basics, and more. Click here to register.
  • UK SAB is hosting March Madness Bingo on Monday, March 8 from 8:00 to 9:00 in the Harris Ballroom or online. All students are invited to enjoy basketball themed bingo and prizes for the top winners of each round. Click here to learn more and RSVP.
  • UFWH-UKY and Food Connection are hosting a virtual cooking class to teach inexpensive recipes based on The Emergency Food Assistance Program boxes. There will be an online discussion about the program and the effects of food insecurity followed by the cooking class on Thursday, March 11 from 5:00 to 6:00 on Zoom.
