Call for Ambassadors
We are seeking student ambassadors for the 2025-26 academic year! M-G CAFE ambassadors are a select group of undergraduate leaders who model and tell the story of our college, its mission and programs, as well as UK. There are approximately 30 ambassadors selected per academic year. If selected, Ambassadors are expected to serve one full year. Duties include leading campus tours, participating in panels, admissions events, college fairs, and communications supporting Future Wildcats!

Agricultural Economics Students – apply for departmental scholarships
Attention, AEC sophomores and juniors!
- Are you an Agricultural Economics major with sophomore/junior standing with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0?
- Do you think about how you can make the world a better place through international exchange, communication, and understanding?
The Paula L. Brannon Scholarship, The Scot A. Brannon Scholarship, and The Shaun R. Brannon Scholarship are three new departmental scholarships covering up to 95% in-state tuition, renewable up to two years. These can be awarded to six students for the academic year 2025-2026. These awards are made possible by the generosity of Mrs. Janice Brannon, a long-time friend of the department.
Apply here by February 10, and you will be considered for these and many other scholarships. Eligible students will be sent a supplemental application this spring to determine final selection.
AEC Alumni Speaker Series
Dr. Shuoli Zhao has lined up amazing alumni for our very first Alumni Speaker Series. Save the date for a talk by Michael Dykes, D.V.M., President and CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA)! The talk is titled "State of the Dairy Industry: Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities" and will be held on February 28 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to network with AEC alumni.

Beam Institute Industry Conference looking for volunteers before and during spring break
The Beam Institute at the University of Kentucky hosts an annual conference that brings in 1200 attendees (researchers, students, distilling professionals, suppliers and growers) from March 17-19, 2025. To prepare and run the conference, we are looking for volunteers to sign up here. Student volunteers will receive free admission to all conference events and talks, and a Beam Institute Shirt.

The I-RAFT Clinic offers community wellness as a facility supporting mental health and personal finance needs in the community. Under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Ross, an Accredited Financial Counselor® and the Program Director for the Family Financial Counseling (FFC) program in the Department of Family Sciences, financial coaches will work with you on developing your financial and life goals, managing debt effectively, as well as answer any personal finance questions you might have.
TREECATS – Urban Forest Initiative
The Urban Forest Initiative (UFI) is seeking applications to this year’ TreeCATs program.
TreeCATs (Collegiate and Citizen Arboriculture Training) is designed to provide UK students and tree-enthused community members knowledge in the importance of and care for trees and greenspaces around us and provides a glimpse into the work being done for urban forestry by experts.
TreeCATs 2025 will take place over the course of five Friday afternoons (March 28, April 4, April 11, April 18, and April 25) from 2 to 5 p.m., with all sessions held remotely on Zoom. The program includes presentations from experts, group discussions, assignments to be completed outdoor, and a final project.
A $220 stipend and certificate of completion is offered to participants who attend all the sessions and complete the course work.
Applications are accepted through Sunday, March 2, 2025, 11:59 p.m. Limited spaces.
